Creativity according to Wikipedia is “a MENTAL and SOCIAL PROCESS involving the GENERATION of NEW IDEAS or CONCEPTS, or new associations of the creative mind between existing ideas or concepts. Creativity is FUELED by the process of either CONSCIOUS or UNCONSCIOUS INSIGHT. An alternative conception of creativeness is that it is simply the ACT OF MAKING SOMETHING NEW”. (Capitalization mine).

Considering the above definition of Creativity, I’d like to point out certain keywords which will become relevant in this article. First of all, Creativity is a MENTAL and SOCIAL PROCESS. This simply means that creativity involves a series of activities involving the use of one’s mind and the interaction with one’s environment which culminates in the act of one being considered creative. The understanding of these series of activities, will be the key to unlocking your creativity. Also, worthy of note in the definition of creativity above are the following keywords, New Ideas or Concepts, Conscious or Unconscious Insight and Act of Making Something New. These all point to the fact that the resultant effect of creativity is to produce a Change. This change may be at a Conscious or Unconscious level of interaction.

Be that as it may, this article seeks to look at the series of activities which culminates in the release of creativity and how these activities can be promoted to produce a more creative individual. We are going to look at two major aspects of creativity, THE MENTAL AND PHYSICAL PROCESSES OF CREATIVITY,in my next blog post.
